Periodic Testing

WHAT IS PERIODIC INSPECTION?

Periodic Inspection is a comprehensive test on the electrical installation in your premises. It can also be described as a “health check” on your electrics. Once Electrical Compliance Solutions complete the report, any defects found in your electrical installation are highlighted and can be rectified promptly so as to prevent danger..

WHY DO I NEED A PERIODIC INSPECITION CARRIED OUT ON MY ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION?

Every Property owner must have a valid Periodic Inspection Report in order to comply with Regulation 89(b) of SI 299 2007 as amended by SI 732 2007.

A Periodic Inspection Report is valid for 5 years in a Commercial Property.

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN PERIODIC TESTING??

Periodic Testing involves the inspection, testing and certification of the installed electrical circuits within your premises. Initially we carry out a visual inspection and then we use our electrical installation test equipment to ensure results are within Electro Technical Council of Ireland regulation guidelines.

PERIODIC INSPECTION SHOULD BE AN INTEGRAL PART OF YOUR HEALTH & SAFETY PROGRAMME FOR YOUR ORGANISATION

The Law

Under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work(General Application) Regulations S.I NO.299 of 2007 it is now a requirement under Irish law that all businesses are obliged to carry out PAT Testing on all portable appliances to ensure the safety and welfare of both employees and customers. The onus to carry out PAT Testing now falls entirely at the feet of the employer who is 100% responsible.

In order to comply with regulations records must be kept for at least five years for random spot checks carried out by the HSA. Irish Insurers/Underwriters are now requesting proof that all portable appliances comply with the legislation prior to the renewal of existing or commencement of new policies. From 1st November 2007, Safety, Health and Welfare at Work(General Application)Regulations S.I NO.299 of 2007.
